Paper in which data is presented wins award.
Tampa, FL May 10, 2007: Research data on Axiom Worldwide's DRX9000 was presented at the 45th
Annual Conference of The Indian Association of Physiotherapists. The Indian Association of
Physiotherapists is a member of the World Confederation of Physical Therapy. This year's
conference was held February 1-4, 2007 at Science-City, Kollkata , India . The research data was
presented in a paper titled, Treatment of Low Back Pain by Spinal Decompression by Ms. Malti
Hiranandani, Chief Physical Therapist at The Back and Neck Clinic, Hyderabad , India . During Ms.
Hiranandani's research the experiences of 75 patients between the ages of 25 to 75 who were
treated on the DRX9000 were studied. According to Ms. Hiranandani's report, among the study
participants were 17 cases of bulging discs, 15 cases of protruded discs, 5 cases of extruded discs,
16 cases of degenerated discs, 7 cases of post-surgical recurrence of pain, 5 cases of desiccated
discs, and 5 cases of stenosis (soft tissue). To assess the treatment on the DRX9000, data was
collected utilizing a Visual Analog Scale, SLR measurements and the slump test before and after
treatment. The slump test is a sitting dural tension test used as an orthopedic physical assessment
tool in which the patient sits upright while the therapist passively raises the left and/or right leg. A
positive test is indicated if the patient complains of back pain. According to Ms. Hiranandani's report
at the conference, treatment on the DRX9000 was determined to be effective based on feedback
from the patients, orthopedic testing and VAS scores. Ms. Hiranandani summarized her findings by
stating that treatment on the DRX9000 "... is effective for the treatment of low back pain. It is evident
from both subjective and objective examination results." Ms. Hiranandani was awarded the "Capri
Prize" for her research.
The forgoing study was not sponsored by Axiom Worldwide. However, the author of the study, Malti
Hiranandani, is affiliated with Axiom Worldwide's distributor in India . Axiom has made no
determination of and makes no representations as to the design, scope or manner in which the
study was conducted. Axiom Worldwide's referencing the presentation of the study should not be
construed to mean that Axiom Worldwide represents that the study establishes any conclusive
success rate or the efficacy of the device. The information is offered simply to demonstrate the
exciting activity ongoing with the DRX9000. As always, individual patient's experiences with the
DRX9000 may vary and patients should always consult with their physician to determine whether
treatment on the DRX9000 makes sense for them.
