What happens when I come into the office each time for treatment?
First you will spend approximately 30-36 minutes on the DRX-9000 Spinal
Decompression machine. This is followed by 15 minutes of Electrical Muscle
Stimulation with ice over the low back or neck to reduce any muscle tension or
inflammation that may occur.
Cold Low Level laser treatment is then performed using 630nm and 808 nm
wavelengths to increase cellular metabolism, reduce deep tissue swelling and
speed healing of the discs, joints and muscles of the back (Research has shown an
reduced healing time of 30-40% in patients using laser treatments). In fact, the New
England Patriots used cold laser therapy on all of their athletic injuries in 2003, the
year they won the Super Bowl.
Myofascial Release and/or massage is then performed by the doctor or a licensed
Massage Therapist to reduce muscle spasms and break up connective tissue
adhesions. Finally, low force joint manipulation/mobilization is performed to
improve joint motion, mobilize restricted areas and restore normal joint
biomechanics. After the first 2 weeks, stretching exercises are performed with
balance training to re-establish normal muscle movement patterns. After 3-4
weeks, additional resistance exercises are added to develop the back or neck
muscles. Core muscle strengthening, trunk stabilization exercises and postural
biomechanics are performed on each visit. The total treatment time each visit is

| FACT: Spinal Decompression is the only corrective procedure for disc injuries that has been proven to increase hydration of the disc, repair the connective tissue structures of the disc, retract herniated or bulged disc material and improve the structural integrity of the disc and surrounding tissues. This is something that back or neck surgery cannot do. Spinal surgery only removes the small portion of the disc that is damaged and is pressing on the pain producing nerves. It does nothing to improve the quality of the disc or surrounding structures. That is the reason why so many back surgeries fail, because you are left with the same bad disc minus the small piece that was surgically removed. This means you have a high potential for re-rupturing the disc. While surgery may temporarily reduce your back or leg pain, it does not change the integrity of the disc or improve the quality of the disc and joints of the spine. Remember, surgery fixes the herniated or bulged chunk of disc pressing on the nerves but not the disc itself! Research shows that the majority of back surgeries are unsuccessful in relieving pain. According to a study published in the June 2005 issue of SPINE journal, 39% of low back pain patients had virtually no difference in pain after surgery. Before and after MRI studies of Spinal Decompression patients show retraction of herniated disc material, healed annular fibers and improved re-hydration of the disc. This is documented in the Journal of Neuro-imaging. |
